Thank you for all of your well
wishes and inquiries into my personal and professional
life. I apologize for taking so long to update this
site, but it took me awhile to come to this necessary
conclusion.
After three surgeries, and with
the reality that I would be facing yet another rotator
cuff surgery in an attempt to keep playing
professionally, I’ve reluctantly decided to retire from
the ATP Tour. While disappointed, I am so thankful for
the successes that I have had on the court, the
experiences I’ve had in traveling the world, and mostly
for the relationships that I have developed over the
past eight years. I want to thank everyone that I have
stayed with, played with and against, and also those of
you who have supported me in person, and on the internet
and through your prayers.
As a graduate of the McIntire
School of Business at the University of Virginia, the
next logical step in my life was to leverage my Finance
and Business Management degrees and to explore options
in the business industry. Ultimately, I‘ve decided to
join my long time friend and financial advisor, Todd
Kennedy, and begin my post tennis career with UBS
Financial Services. Todd and his clients have enjoyed
remarkable success and I am fortunate to have him as a
tutor as I build my practice. I share his philosophy of
building upon conservative investments while maintaining
a keen eye on selective growth opportunities. This is a
perfect fit for me, for this attitude has served me well
as a player. I was not the most flashy player, but
obtained success through hard work, patience and paying
attention to fundamentals. I will use that same
approach in my second career, as well.
Working with UBS seems somehow
prophetic. They were there to support my Brighter
Future Foundation at its inception in 2003. Many of the
pictures from the event actually have both Andy and me
standing in front of their logo. It is nice to work for
a company that shares my belief of giving back to the
community. The Foundation will always be one of my
finest accomplishments and I hope to look for ways to
continue its success.
So, I
am excited about my new venture. It gives my new life
structure, but allows me to still work at what I care
about most, and that is maintaining past relationships
and helping the people that I care about. Please keep
in touch, and let me know how I can help.
